Jennifer Colón: A Puerto Rican Breaking Barriers in the Universe of Beauty

Puerto Rico continues to shine on the international stage, and this time, it does so with Jennifer Colón, a woman who has set a historic precedent. With her participation in the Miss Universe pageant, Jennifer not only represented the island but also challenged traditional standards, becoming a symbol of strength, beauty, and resilience.

Making History for Puerto Rico

Jennifer Colón became the first 36-year-old woman and mother of three to represent Puerto Rico in the prestigious pageant. Among the 126 contestants from around the world, she stood out for her authenticity and determination, earning a spot among the 12 semifinalists, a milestone that fills every Puerto Rican with pride.

The model was also one of 18 mothers in the competition, proving that motherhood is not a limitation but an added strength. During the final night, Jennifer dazzled in a stunning design by Eclíptica, created by Fabián de la Fuentes. The gown, made of teal silk tulle with a gold metal piece, evoked the essence of a Greek goddess, highlighting her elegance and presence on stage.

In the preliminary competition, Jennifer shone in a design by Garlate Design from Thailand, called Splendor of El Yunque, inspired by Puerto Rico's tropical rainforest. The gown featured a sweetheart neckline that accentuated her figure and a gradient of colors transitioning from sky blue to vibrant green, symbolizing the sky, vegetation, and abundant flora of the forest. Every detail reflected the pride and natural richness of the island.

More Than a Representative, a National Pride

Jennifer not only carried Puerto Rico’s flag with elegance but also demonstrated that barriers are broken with determination and authenticity. Her story is a reminder that beauty transcends age, social roles, and expectations, inspiring millions of women to dream big and achieve their goals.

A Memorable Competition

The 2024 edition of Miss Universe was historic not only for Puerto Rico but also for other nations. Victoria Kjaer, representing Denmark, achieved her country’s first placement since 1963 and also claimed the crown, marking a milestone in pageant history. Nigeria, Thailand, Mexico, and Venezuela completed the Top 5 alongside the Danish queen, in a night filled with emotions and celebrations.

An Inspirational Legacy

Jennifer Colón will not only be remembered as a semifinalist in Miss Universe but as an ambassador of the modern woman: strong, multifaceted, and full of love for her homeland. Her participation reaffirms the pride of being Puerto Rican and reminds us that, with perseverance, anything is possible.

Jennifer is more than a queen; she is living proof that dreams have no limits. Puerto Rico applauds her and celebrates this historic achievement, which will remain in the hearts of all.

We would like to extend our congratulations to the outstanding Miss Universe Puerto Rico team for the exceptional work they have been doing over the past three years. Special recognition goes to Carmencita Rodríguez, Clark Ivor, Edgar Ramos, and their remarkable Director, Yizette Cifredo.
